The seasons are changing quickly and it is already time for the 3rd Annual Lorelle’s G.I.F.T. (Grace In Faithful Times) Drive! For the third consecutive year, we will donate UH Rainbow’s Babies and Children’s’ Hospital during the holiday season. Last year with the help of the community partners, friends and family, the foundation donated over 218 gifts to the youth patients of Rainbow. This year we aim to donate at least 300 gifts on Saturday, December 9th, 2017.
Anytime a child is hospitalized it is challenging, especially during the holidays. Your new toy or new book still wrapped in its’ original packaging will bring a smile to a deserving child or young adult. These tax-deductible donations will be freely given to children and their siblings during the holidays, at discharge from the hospital, to celebrate a milestone, a birthday or just to brighten his or her day.
My daughter Lorelle Faith received over 6 years of medical and therapeutic care through UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. As a result of Lorelle’s “incompatible with life” diagnosis, her medical care demanded innovative, extraordinary and world-class treatment. At Rainbow, Lorelle’s countless appointments, lifesaving admissions and all of our month-long stays were met with exceptional care and kindness. When Lorelle passed away, I witnessed that Rainbow’s compassionate care goes far beyond the walls of the hospital. Specifically, I cherish the memories of the Rainbow Child Life Services program which was vital in helping our family cope during her admissions. For that reason and so many more we want to overflow supply of toys for the UH Rainbow patients and families.
